General information

The Pan Cyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council (PVCC), established in 1973, is the Supreme Co-ordinating Body of Volunteering in the Republic of Cyprus. The PVCC brings together hundreds of volunteer organisations/NGOs at the local and national level, representing therefore the interests of a wide range of the civil society.

Objectives:

  • ​to identify, study, analyze and project social problems and needs

  • the active contribution to the planning, the charting and the formulation the social policy of the Republic

  • the development of volunteerism, as idea and practice, in line with the present international conditions

  • the study, utilization, support and projection of the contribution of voluntary organizations in the field of volunteerism and social welfare

  • the coordination of the activities and the planning of its members, as well as coordination among the members and between members and the competent services of the state

  • the facilitation and strengthening of the operation and activities of its members on a purely advisory basis

  • the charting of policy and strategy for the achievement of the short-term and long-term objectives in the field of volunteerism and social welfare

  • the provision of technical and advisory guidance to its member organisations for the promotion of community programs, if and when required

  • the provision of education and training or the contribution to the education and retraining of its member organisations

  • the establishment, maintenance, education, administration and use of volunteer centres

  • generally, the promotion of contribution in the field of volunteerism and social welfare in the Republic

  • ​Awareness raising campaigns (Volunteerism Week, Programme Youth & Volunteering, Volunteer Centre)

  • Participation in decision making processes / civil dialogue / Dialogue with the Ministry of Welfare, Social Insurance and Labour

  • Participation in governmental and other Committees

  • Participation in European and international networks

  • Coordination and implementation of voluntary projects

  • Training – Development and Research Centre

  • European Affairs Service

  • Services to members (News service, support, funding opportunities, etc)

  • Coordination of the Volunteer Centers

  • Conferences, Civil Society Assemblies, Elders’ Parliament

  • Publications

  • Corporate Social Responsibility Competition

Cyprus Volunteers’ Corps:

​The Volunteer Centre is the official coordinative centre for the promotion of volunteerism in Cyprus. It promotes, organises and coordinates voluntary service and matches need and demand. Established in 1991, the Volunteer Centre functions in all districts under the responsibility of the District Volunteerism Coordinative Councils and the general supervision of the PVCC. The Volunteer Centre registers volunteers, identifies needs, matching need and demand, trains and guides/supports volunteers, acknowledges and certifies voluntary service.
